Friday, January 9. 2026 begins the period where the petition pick up date and deadline date for the two elections overlap.
Candidates who are running for Circuit Court Clerk, County Clerk, Register of Deeds, Sheriff and Trustee have been able to pick up a petition since December 22, 2025, and must submit their petition by February 19, 2026. This is for candidates who wish to participate in the May Primary elections or as an independent candidate in the August General election.
Candidates who are running for County Mayor, County Commission and School Board are able to pick up a petition starting on January 9, 2026, and must submit their petition by March 10, 2026. These candidates will participate as a non-partisan candidate in the August General election.
