There were no candidates that requested to be in the Democratic or Republican County Primary Elections. The May primary ballot will not have any candidates to select. Sample ballots for the May Election can be viewed on the Sample Ballots page of this website. All candidates running for Circuit Court Clerk, County Clerk, Register of Deeds, Sheriff and County Trustee chose to participate as independent candidates and will be on the August County General Election ballot. There will be no early voting period but we will have an Election Day. The polling places have been modified for some districts since school will be in session that day.
Certificate of Write-in Candidacy
Candidates had until noon, March 10, 2026, to submit petitions. A listing of candidates can be found on the Election Commission page of this website. Registered voters who are interested in being write-in candidates for any of the offices on the August ballot must meet the qualifications for that office, submit position specific required supplemental documentation (if applicable) and submit a Certificate of Write-in Candidacy by noon on June 17, 2026.
